STEP ONE: HEALING SELF-TRUST

One of the first deep hurts codependents experience is the gaslighting and questioning of their emotions, their lived experiences, their capacities, and even their own right to exist.
 
This taught the codependent to doubt themselves, distrust themselves, and seek truth and authority outside their own awareness, wisdom, and senses. 
 
This leaves codependents highly vulnerable to manipulation, abuse, and harm.  Further, when the codependent is healing, they’re questioning and doubting their own realizations and changes, slowing down their own healing and keeping them hooked on external sources for validation.
 
This is why I start with healing your self-trust first.  This empowers your healing and helps you restore your sense of legitimacy, natural wholeness, and using your personal power for the benefit of your healing, happiness, and well-being.
 

Healing your relationship with self-trust must go gently, slowly, and at YOUR pace.

STEP TWO: HEALING THE FAWN RESPONSE

Fawning is a response your body has toward danger when that danger is a person.  It is where you try to please and appease the person in hopes they won’t harm you anymore and maybe even love you more.

This is especially present when the dangerous person is a parent or spouse whom you love. 

This causes the core codependency behaviors of people-pleasing, avoiding conflict, toxic accommodation and tolerance, fixing and enabling habits, perfectionism, and even a strong desire to merge with the dangerous person in order to feel whole, worthy, lovable, and complete.

When this inevitably fails, you are left with that gutting emotion of being discarded, unworthy, and unlovable.

I guide you through this pain using specific practices, including:
 
  • Body-based calming practices that help you feel safer and safer being in your present moment
  • Building emotional space and capacity to feel emotions, sooth your pain, and access your inner wisdom
  • Restore legitimacy to your experiences and feelings so you can detect boundaries, gut instinct, and your own voice again
  • Regulate and sooth distress and pain from loss, discard, and abandonment
  • Soothe and heal the emptiness and loneliness from neglect and being unseen and unmet by others and yourself
  • Identifying and neutralizing codependent fantasies
  • Identify and trust your lived experience
  • Restore sanity through identifying what is real
  • Restore your sense of personhood and personal power

Codependency emerges when we don’t have a solid sense of real Self.
