We’re often faced with the pressure to comply with our internal shoulds or the expectations of others that we term as “shoulds”. When we favor our shoulds, we’re essentially forcing ourselves to do things we don’t genuinely desire to do or be. We begin to build resentment and a lack of satisfaction with ourselves and our life.
To infuse a greater sense of satisfaction in life, I recommend choosing our wants over our shoulds frequently. This affords us the opportunity to experience saying “Yes” to ourselves, as well as discovering the nature of our shoulds (are they even important?!). Learn more about it in this week’s Sanity Check™
